70 days from direct-sowing. The sweetest melon in last year’s trial gardens, Dove is an ananas-type melon with the most delectable flavor we’ve ever sampled! Scoring an amazing 15.5 on the Brix sweetness scale, it matures early and is indescribably delicious straight from the vine!
These 5- to 6-inch-diameter melons weigh about 3 to 4 pounds each, with traces of netting on the greenish-orange rind and ivory flesh within. When fully ripe, the melons sport a telltale rosy blush in the center of the flesh and toward the rind. When you see this color, you know you’re eating it at the peak of ripeness!
Early to mature, Dove is not a long-term storage melon, and you should sow the seed successively every 2 weeks or so to guarantee yourself a long, delicious crop that can be harvested in small numbers each day. You won’t be able to get enough of this super-sweet delight, so you’ll need to let Nature extend your season the natural way!
If you enjoy less-common melon varieties, be sure to try Courier Hybrid, a Galia with unbelievably crisp-sweet flavor, and AAS winner Canary Melon Amy. You’ll love them all! Pkt is 15 seeds.
