Why can’t all heirloom varieties be as easy to grow and drop-dead gorgeous as Tiger Eyes? This fabulous French Marigold surprises and delights with big, bold “eyes” of deepest red and brightest yellow all summer long — on nifty little plants just a foot high and wide! If you love flowers (or want to protect your Tomatoes and other veggies from root knot nematodes), you MUST treat yourself to Tiger Eyes!
The flowers measure about 2 inches across, with single lower petals of smoky red and eye-catching, pompon-like upper petals of sunny yellow. Taken together, this combination is absolutely stunning, and will stand out like fresh paint from among all the other humdrum red-and-yellow Marigolds. And you don’t have to wait for the flowers — they arise very, very freely all summer long, giving you an extra-long season of beauty in the sunny garden, flowerpot, or windowbox.
If you’re a vegetable grower, you may have already heard that Marigolds actually kill as many (or more) root knot nematodes as commercial pesticides. Plant them very freely around your veggies (particularly Tomatoes and Peppers, on which nematodes feast), and I guarantee you’ll see a big difference in the success rate of your plants. Of course, if you’ve got a large veggie garden and are serious about eliminating nematodes, there’s a Marigold designed just for that purpose, and I highly recommend it — but for the rest of us, Tiger Eyes is so beautiful that it will fill the bill admirably!
Tiger Eyes is an open-pollinated Marigold that has been gracing gardens for more than a century, and I’m delighted to be able to offer it to Park gardeners. You’ll love the compact plant habit and nonstop blooms! Give this one a try for months of eye-catching color! Pkt is 50 seeds.
